This talk will explore how ocean modelling helps us understand and predict oceanographic features in the oceans around Ireland, from the daily rhythm of tides and complex current patterns to the impacts of storms and extreme events like marine heatwaves. The talk will show how these models are used to support practical services, including aquaculture, water quality monitoring, and early warning systems.
We’ll also look at how modelling contributes to biodiversity restoration efforts by identifying suitable habitats. Finally, we’ll touch on how climate projections are being integrated into these tools to help communities and stakeholders prepare for future conditions and make better informed decisions.
This online session is open to all. It will use the Blackboard Collaborate platform.
